Narooma Bowls - 20 May

Wednesday 15 May

Another great day of bowls with 6 rinks of triples and the winners decided by Lucky Rinks were Russell Smith, John Spees and Jeremy Seaton (skip) who were down 7 to 10 after 11 ends before they picked up their game to win the next 6 ends to lead 19 to 10 after 17 ends and they took the match 19 to 13 against Scott Kennedy, Tony Cobcroft and Peter Pickett (skip). Second place went Tony Gors, Jeff McCusker and visitor, Bob Dick (skip) who were on fire to lead 15 to 4 after 11 ends and continued in that form to win their match 29 to 9 against Russell Burke, Cindy Newell and Gary Murane (skip). Tony Gors was his usual accurate self to have the first resting toucher at 1.55, well done Tony.

Thank you to Rapley & Son’s Butchery for their continued support.

Sunday 19 May

we had a great afternoon of bowls with two rinks of Triples and a rink of Pairs. Winners, decided by Highest Winning margin, were Christine Cockerell, Jan Rapkins and Barry Lymbery (skip) who were held to 6 all after 7 ends before they drew clear for a 25 to 13 win against Rob McIntyre/Al Randall, Sue Bender and Sue Sansom (skip).  Welcome to new bowler, Jeff Hunter, we hope you enjoyed the afternoon and we look forward to your next game.

Grade 6 Pennants

Congratulations to our Grade 6 Pennant Team who were in the Zone playoffs at Bega over the weekend. It was great to have a good turnout of our spectators to cheer the team on.  Unfortunately we were unable to take out the playoffs but the experience will be a great help in similar matches in the future.

Our team results were –

  • Russell Smith, Cindy Newell, John Downie and Peter Jones (skip) had 3 losses,

  • Allan Chisholm, Darrel Goodridge, Jim Constan and Sandra Breust (skip) drew against Nowra, had a loss against Tathra and won against Sussex Inlet

  • Mick Cavic, Carol Harraway/Barry Goodwin, John Redman and Gary Murane (skip) were beaten by Nowra but won their games against Tathra and Sussex Inlet.

One thing we must remind one of our bowlers – the little ring goes on the inside!!

President’s Pairs

We have only had one game in the President’s Pairs with Peter Tinson and Greg Ryan (skip) playing John Voytas and Keith Pickett (skip).  Peter and Greg started strongly and after 12 ends they led 14 to 4.  The game then took a big turn with John and Keith winning 6 of the next 7 ends to square the match at 15 all after 19 ends.  John and Keith had the momentum and picked up the final two ends to win the match 20 to 15.
