Good Friday Mixed Pairs

What a great day of bowls we had on Friday.  We had perfect weather, great company, excellent bowling and average hard luck stories.  The day started with a smorgasbord of sweet delights provided by many of the ladies participating in the day’s activities and then we started a day of bowls at 9.30am with the sounds of familiar songs beating away in the background building on the great atmosphere.

 The 1st round of 3 bowl, 12 end pairs was completed by around 11.00am to the sound of the bell and half of us buoyed on by a first-round win couldn’t wait to change greens and face the challenge of our new opponents.  With many singing along to well known tunes and prancing around after delivering a good bowl the fate of quite a few became clear and several suddenly realised a win was in the offing.  The bell rang again at 12.30 but by then most were in ready to enjoy the tasty fish and chips provided for lunch. 

After checking the leader board we were back out, either trying to stay in the running or looking for that first win.

 Plenty of top bowls were played and many chances slipped through fingers as we got through the 3rd round. Play finished and we all came in to socialise and for those not in the running there was always a chance in the raffle with a multitude of tempting prizes.

Finally the results were posted and the Presentation began. 

6th place with 2 wins and a + 25 margin, were Buzz Breust and Sandra Breust,

5th place with 3 wins and +10 margin were Carol Harraway and Keith Pickett,

4th place with 3 wins and + 22 margin were Suzanne Dainer and John Scott/Peter Dillon,

3rd place with 3 wins + 24 margin were Val Didini and Peter Murton,

2nd place with 3 wins and + 26 margin were Merryl and Tom Allen

1st place with 3 wins and a +28 margin were Pam Grant and Greg Ryan.

A tight finish with 4 shots difference between 1st and 4th showed what a good competition it was.  A good time was had by all and a big thank you to all responsible for arranging and running the day.
