Wednesday 16th Apr
We had 8 rinks in action on Wednesday and on ends 7 and 20 we had double points. Winners, decided by Highest Winning Margin, were Ian Smart, Jeremy Seaton and Ray Gale (skip) who were in no mood to give up shots as they led throughout for a good win against Scott Kennedy, Tony Cobcroft and Peter Pickett (skip). Second place went to Russell Smith, Peter Murton and John Spees who were having a close game until they picked up 6 shots on end 7 for the double bonus of 12 shots to race out from being down 4 to 5 to leading 16 to 5. From there on it was quite even again with John’s team taking the remaining ends 14 to 10 to win the match 31 to 15 against Peter Hiscox, Jim Constan and Peter Jones (skip). Sam Nicholls had the first resting toucher, well done Sam. Thank you to Rapley and Son’s Butchery for their continued support.
Sunday 20th Apr
On Sunday we had 1 rink of triples and 1 rink of pairs. Winners, decided by Lucky Rink, were regular visitor from Castle Hill, Rhonda White and John Downie (skip) who were slow to get going as they trailed 3 to 10 after 5 ends but then, with some sparkling bowls they raced out to a 17 to 10 lead after 9 ends and after having the margin narrowed to 19 to 15 after 14 ends they refocused to draw away for a 28 to 19 win against Kaye Whiffen and Peter Hiscox (skip). In the triples, Peter Hawker, Warren Bender and Peter Murton (skip) started well to lead 9 to 5 after 11 ends and got out to a 17 to 7 lead before they were cut back to their final, winning, score of 17 to 11 against Sue Wales, Olwyn Mayer and Ken Burrows (skip).
