Wednesday 26 Mar
There was another good turnout of bowlers on Wednesday with winners decided by Highest Winning Margin and we had an innovation of double score on ends 7 and 14
Winners were Peter Hiscox, Jim Constan and Peter Jones (skip) who were in good form to lead 13 to 9 after 9 ends and then after leading 17 to 13 after 13 ends they put the foot down to take the next 6 ends to draw away for a 35 to 14 win against Andrew Thompson, Greg Riley and Glen Brown (skip).
Second place went to Cindy Newell, Peter Chatfield and Keith Pickett (skip) who were 12 all after 11 ends and after picking up a 4 and a 6 on the 2 bonus ends they got away to win their match 27 to 16 against Margie Naylor, Pam Grant and Sandra Breust (skip).
John Downie thought he should get a special mention seeing he was just back from a cruise and he, Warren and Neville were able to pick up shots on both bonus ends as they went from being down 4 to 16 after 9 ends to hitting the front, for the 1st time, on the last end for a courageous 20 to 19 win against Maggsy, Les and Col.
Peter Jones had the 1st resting toucher at 12.50, well done Peter, all over the jack as usual. Thank you to Rapley and Son’s Butchery for their continued support.
The much-needed rain came along to wash out play on Saturday and Sunday and all Pennant play was deferred to another day.
Open Minor Pairs
A semi final of the Minor Pairs was played last week, between Trent Brooker and Darrel Goodridge (skip) and Peter Hiscox and Glen Brown (skip). Trent and Darrel got away to a good start to lead 14 to 5 after 9 ends. Peter and Glen struck back to close the margin to 12 to 14 after 11 ends but Trent and Darrel maintained their lead and then drew clear to win their match 24 to 14.
